Family & Community Partnership

We believe mental health thrives through connection and collaborate with families and communities to foster lasting well-being.

At Butterfly Psychiatry, you and your family are met with understanding, respect, and collaboration. Mental health is shaped by many factors—including genetics, life experiences, culture, and coping strategies—and care should reflect the whole person, not just a diagnosis.

Our approach is holistic, evidence‑based, and developmentally informed, creating a safe and stigma‑free space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered.

The Meaning Behind Butterfly Psychiatry

The Morpho butterfly represents transformation, resilience, hope, and healing. Just as a butterfly’s growth unfolds over time, meaningful mental health change happens through patience, support, and intentional care. At Butterfly Psychiatry, we honor each individual’s journey and believe in the power of growth at every stage of life.

“Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.”Noam Shpancer

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to help you

We understand that starting mental health care can come with many questions. Below are a few of the most common ones from families and young adults considering care at Butterfly Psychiatry. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, visit our full FAQ page or reach out to our team for support.

  • If you or your child is experiencing a mental health emergency (active suicidal intent, danger to self or others, severe behavioral crisis):

  • Call 911 OR,

  • Go to the nearest emergency department ER,

  • Contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

  • Under Washington State’s Involuntary Treatment Act (RCW 71.05), individuals who present a danger to themselves, others, or are gravely disabled due to a behavioral health condition may be evaluated by a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) for possible involuntary detention. Our practice does not provide emergency or after-hours crisis services.

Yes, we are accepting clients 5–30 years of age.

  • The first step is to provide us with information by completing the new patient screen via our HIPAA-compliant EMR https://valant.io/prospectivepatient/ButterflyPsychiatryPLLC

  • After receiving your information, we will verify your benefits with your insurance within 72 hours. Once verified, we will send your details to our providers, which may take an additional 2 to 5 business days. If approved, your first appointment could be scheduled up to two months in advance. In case of cancellations, we will contact patients for earlier availability.

  • Our support staff will send you an invitation to set up our patient portal. Setting up the portal is crucial, as all subsequent steps will depend on its completion. This includes filling out intake paperwork, messaging our staff, and requesting appointments and prescription refills.

  • Payment is due at the time of service. Butterfly Psychiatry requires you to have a valid, active payment card on file to charge for your appointment on the day of the visit. If you do not provide your payment information, your appointment may be canceled.

  • New Patients: You can request an intake by clicking on Contact Us. Follow the steps in “Are you accepting new patients?”

  • Established Patients: Your provider will usually schedule your follow-up appointment during your visit. However, if you need to schedule a follow-up, please request one on the MYIO Patient Portal
